"If someone asked me to describe Littluns in one word, it would be FANTASTIC! I love it but more importantly my twin boys aged 2 & a half love it too. At my first visit I instantly knew this was the place for my boys - its homely, warm, friendly and has a gentle buzz that the children thrive on. Karen & the team take each individual childs needs into consideration & treat them as little independant people. As they develop through their tricky stages, as all children do, the whole team help with feedback on dealing with situations & don't make you feel you're the only parent dealing with terrible 2's (or 2 terrible 2's in my case!)
Joshua & Finley are the first twins Littluns have cared for. The team take this care seriously - researching interaction with each other & peers and the competitive natures of twins & I believe they have found a perfect balance for the boys who are extremely happy here. According to TAMBA, twins development and communication can be slower than singleton children however the boys are thriving & their development is no different to that of a single child - this is a real testament to the care, encouragement & time that the team offer. Joseph is the younger of our 2 boys, the eldest now at school but also spent his pre-school years at Littluns, and we would not have wanted Joe to go anywhere else. I have had one or both of my boys occupying a space for the past 5 years & the time spent here by both of them is treasured!
There is always a happy atmosphere when you arrive - genuinely happy children & staff & its hard for me to leave to go to work as I always want to stay & play myself. The days are structured & include so many activities - they always amaze me how much they fit into one day & as a reflection of all this activity, have walls of artwork at home which we all love. Karen & the girls are always on hand to discuss any concerns and there is a real 'open door' policy. The regular coffee mornings, charity & social events also provide further opportunities to discuss a child's development but in a less formal environment. Littluns is a truly wonderful setting, its an extension of our home & I know of no other childcare provision to rival it - its simply the best!" Jennie & Bryan - Joseph's Parents
"Littluns really does offer something very special. From the 1st visit we were struck by the home from home feel Karen & the team have created - something that seemed lacking in many other nurseries we visited. Karen was so warm, friendly & enthusiastic & I was impressed by how keen she and the team were, to engage with Henry. Meanwhile we discussed what he liked, disliked and his general routine. It became very clear that Littluns was the place for us! Henry has been here 9 months & during this time it has been an absolute delight to watch him thrive in a fun, friendly and stimulating environment. At 18 months old he goes to collect his own shoes & coat in the mornings when he hears the word 'Nursery' & rarely looks back as we drop him off in the morning.
The variety of activities offered is fantastic & the whole team put so much thought & effort into the child's day. They also go that extra mile to arrange activities for the parents to get involved & meet each other. I have enjoyed Mums nights out and Daddy attended the Dads & Donuts morning just this Saturday to celebrate Fathers Day. "When your 3 year old daughter waits at the front door in the morning with her coat & shoes, you know you have been lucky enough to find the perfect childcare solution. The care & attention provided by Karen & the team is outstanding & makes Littluns a wonderful home from home for Hannah. Karen & the girls have huge amounts of energy & enthusiasm which means the children have a wonderful time. Hannah has been extremely happy since day 1 & waves us goodbye to rush off & play in the mornings. Seeing how Hannah is at Littluns and how she has thrived & developed since starting in April 2008 confirms that Littluns is a special place & not just somewhere she has to go to allow us to work. "Littluns was recommended to us by a close friend who's little boy attended. She couldn't praise it enough & when we started our search for childcare she took us straight here! Having visited many other nurseries & childminders, I couldn't imagine leaving Emma at any of them. Our first impression of Littluns was fantastic - spotlessly big bright rooms full of beautiful toys (plus a closet of additional ones) with separate sleep, dining, art rooms & a miniscule toilet for the little ones plus a spacious garden filled with more toys - but most importantly, the staff genuinely care for the children & are warm & so caring - we witnessed first hand the way the children love their carers - we knew instantly, this was the place for Emma. The activities that take place daily are amazing & so much effort is put into preparation. The small numbers mean that each child receives lots of personal attention together with nutritious, tasty home cooked meals (Emma eats better here than she does at home!) Our daughter is truly happy at Littluns & adores everyone there. Each morning she can't wait to go to nursery, see her friends & have fun - at weekends she seems disappointed not to be going. Karen also puts so much effort into arranging activities such as charity events, trips to panto, parties & putting on children's performances as well as mums nights out & monthly newsletters that keep us informed of news & events. "We consider ourselves so lucky to have found such excellent childcare facilities for our two small children & are amazed that we found somewhere where the children are treated as individuals accomodating individual sleep routines, eating habits etc. to ensure a smooth settling in period. The small numbers of children together with the staff create a loving family like environment, with all the staff getting to know your child's preferrences & habits. When you go to collect your children & the girls are bubbling with excitement to tell you the funny things they've been up to, you know they have developed a genuine affection for each child they look after. The facilities are homely, spotlessly clean & provide a huge range of resources as well as planned activities such as creative play, messy play, cooking, circle time and singing - the show's the children put on are wonderful! "As new parents we were confused & bewildered by childcare options (& lack of them) available to us. We feel so fortunate to have found Littluns - a hidden gem that isn't advertised nor has a board - which has surpassed all our expectations. Max was 7 months when I returned to work & Karen & the team made a stressful & anxious time so much easier with regular communication about his progress during the vital first few weeks. It was clear from the very start that he gets so much out of his time here and it is blatantly obvious the girls really care about their profession & care about what they are doing - a real difference from other places we visited. They take a genuine interest in Max's development and encourage him to be independant, build upon his social skills and advance his vocabularly constantly. Karen has created a real family feel to the setting & we were made welcome from the offset. The 'Mum's Nights Out' are a lovely touch & all the extra details over the Christmas period (where else can you find real-life reindeer visit a nursery?) make Littluns a truly special place. Littluns is a very professional childcare setting but what sets it apart is the warm atmosphere Karen creates. "Had it not been for a friend recommending Littluns, I would not have found this hidden gem of a nursery! The setting is bright, airy, clean and a very happy environment for any child. Before we started, like any new parent, we were worried about food, sleeping and Alicia's individual routine & her likes & dislikes but everyone at Littluns have been great in meeting the needs of our little girl & continually adapting to her ever changing needs. The whole team play such an important part in encouraging Alicia's development and we notice weekly the new words & songs & the artwork Alicia brings home is beautiful & takes pride of place in our home. At the end of every day we arrive to collect a very happy toddler, learning so many beautiful things & embracing play with her friends. Alicia simply loves being at Littluns!"
